This was the coolest little town. It has a one room schoolhouse, a blacksmith, livestock, and several other neat buildings with employees in time period clothing. Everyone is nice and informative. It was super affordable, and the gifts shop gifts are so cute.
What an experience! It feels like you stepped back into 1855. We attended the Independence Day celebration and the people in each of the stops were fantastic! It was fun asking them questions and seeing their wardrobes! This is something fun to do with the whole family or alone. There’s a lot to see and a lot to learn. Be sure to allow enough time!
Visited on a semi-rainy day so that did dampen( excuse the pun lol) the exploration a bit and the picture taking.
Otherwise definitely an experience to gain historical knowledge. …
Went December 2, 2023 for the Christmas Celebration and it was very disappointing.
Nothing was really decorated. No open fires to get warm by and no Christmas …
It was a very pleasurable experience. We got to learn and talk about history. We got to see, touch and feed live animals. As well as enjoy the simplicity of life at it's best. Truly takes you back in time. Can't wait to come back.

The Fall Festival is worth the trip. I had not attended in probably 15 years at least, so it was a surprise at how much it has expanded. Still has all the period actors running the town as it would have been in 1855, but they have added …
A spread out area dedicated to capturing the essence of 1855. Walking up the gravel road you see wooden fences with heritage live stock, homes that are from Missouri built in the time period, buildings for the mercantile the black smith, …
Excellent activity any time of year for kids and adults. The Fall Festival was wonderful with music, crafts, vendors, and good food. This historic village is a state treasure.
I like this place for several reasons. It is quiet and off the beaten path. Most of the time there is hardly anyone there, so if you like photography there is rarely anyone around to muck up your shots. It’s all pretty carefully done, and …
